How "signs" can strengthen your intuition & inner knowing
So often in times of change, uncertainty, or when we’re at a crossroads, we desperately look for answers or “signs” that we’re on the right path.
I know my prayers and meditations lately have definitely included asking for messages – whether they’re from my intuition, my heart, the Universe, God, a song, a book, WHATEVER – just please send me some kind of message that I’m on the right path!!!!!
And of course, while a guide book may not drop from the sky outlining all that’s in store for my life – I believe the Universe does indeed send us signs if we slow done, tune in, open our eyes and LOOK.
A few days ago for me a grasshopper jumped on my hand and freaked me out. I jumped up and tried to shake it off and it held on pretty tight. I didn’t think much of it (other than I thought I could have been a little calmer and admired it, vs frantically trying to get it off of me) 😂and then I saw another one sitting right outside my car today.
So I decided to Google it and this is what I found:
I had to laugh when I read this because it definitely resonated with what I’m going through in my life right now and felt like a comforting message for me.
And then I started thinking about what other signs may have shown up for me recently and I remembered this…
A few days ago I was walking to my car and Spotify opened and randomly started playing “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten. I’d heard of things like this happening to other people and never really believed it, so at first I just thought it was a random mistake and tried to turn it off.
After I frustratedly realized I COULDN’T turn my phone off, or even turn the volume down no matter what I did, I finally thought - whoa - maybe this song is trying to tell me something…
I didn’t really get any messages from listening to the lyrics, but then I went home and watched the music video.
And as I watched the video, I realized why the song had started playing for me and started to laugh & cry. The images and scenery felt like a pretty direct affirmation that the path I’m contemplating going down would support me and be in the highest good for my life right now.
As much as I’ve desperately been asking the Universe for signs, I wasn’t seeing them until I slowed down and took some time to reflect.
I share all of this because I want to remind you - for anyone asking for a sign - they’re out there. Don’t know where to look? Ask yourself…
Is there an animal you’ve seen repeatedly?
Or a symbol or imagery that’s showing up that reminds you of a loved one?
Or a song that pops on unexpectedly that has a particularly poignant message?
Notice what you’re noticing. After a certain “sign” pops up for you, take some time to reflect on what you think it means first. Than dive deeper and explore if it has any meanings historically, mythologically or symbolically you might be able to learn from. Have any realizations? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
